By Janis Lynn Frankø-Blogger

I am in my soul still a desert rat. The Bedouin and the gentle rippling from the Red Sea on the shores of the Sinai are still embedded in my brain, even though I find myself sojourned in the high north of Denmark. My fibers are Jewish, my daily language a babble of three languages and my mind drifts back to the sand grains of my past. Good music, a strong cafe, good friends, family… the small things of life are what makes me tremble with happiness… dirty fingers with paint and graphic ink will do the trick as well.

I am a cold desert rat

Wrapped in by chilled winds of a far northern land

I seek out the warm sand

To dig into the grains of secrets

Of the nomads.

I am a nomadic desert rat

I am a cold desert rat

Hibernating in my concrete cave

Watching from afar

As the sky fills up with birds

On their southern journey.

I am a warm country bird

I am a cold desert rat

Spinning around with her tail

Brain to keep warm.

About Janis Lynn Frankø:

janisThe forever changing textures of the lake by my home in Silkeborg, Denmark, the oud, wind and dried camel bones of the desert and the memories of my youth in California, collide and coexist simultaneously, to represent the images in my writings and art and of a life spent equally distributed on three vastly different continents.

I am the desert rat blogger, who has climbed out of her desert burrow into the confines of four white Danish walls.  My desert rat nose is keen and always draws me back to Århus.

Århus was my point of entry into Denmark almost 23 years ago, my home for 5 years and now even through I am “exiled” to Silkeborg, it is still my chosen town to visit. I love Århus and all it has to offer in ways of diversity of culture, texture and sights and smells.
